Maria Lucchetta is a Doctoral Candidate in Transport and Mobility Studies at DTU and a member of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network TRANSFORM.
Her PhD research examines how urban mobility cultures are formed, expressed, and transformed over time, with particular emphasis on song lyrics as a cultural archive through which meanings of mobility, movement, and urban space are articulated and contested.
She holds a Master’s degree in Social Scientific Data Analysis from Lund University in Sweden and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Trento in Italy. Prior to joining the network, she worked as a research engineer at the faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University, collaborating on various interdisciplinary projects.
Her primary career aspiration is to pursue a long-term career in academia. She is motivated by the opportunity to conduct research, publish scholarly work, and contribute to high-quality academic knowledge. Within the academic environment, she seeks positions that support sustained research development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and engagement in both national and international research networks.
What motivates her research and professional trajectory is the opportunity to study questions with both theoretical and societal relevance. She enjoys working with data, developing clear and rigorous arguments, and contributing to scholarly debates, while also aiming to translate research findings into policy-relevant insights for decision-makers and urban planners. The collaborative nature of research, especially across academic and policy contexts, is a further key source of motivation for her.
