Personal Profile

Maximilian Hoffmann is a Doctoral Candidate in Transport and Mobility Studies at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna and a member of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network TRANSFORM

His PhD research develops a novel appraisal framework for transformative mobility policies, adopting an integrated approach of analysis to the provisioning systems of accessibility. This systemic perspective will enable the public and policymakers to understand, evaluate and improve policies in terms of their social, economic and ecological impacts, as well as their interactions.

Max holds a Master’s degree in Spatial Planning from Technical University Dortmund, Germany, and a Bachelor’s degree in Urbanistik from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Germany. During his Master’s degree. he worked at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, Energy within the division for circular economy.  He completed an internship at the Municipal Planning Department of Vienna (MA 18) and an internship at the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure.

Career Aspirations

Max plans to apply the experience he gains while conducting his research to the transition towards societal and planetary well-being, working from a position where he can be most useful. At the heart of his future career aspirations is the desire to expand and communicate knowledge on how to achieve this transition, design and implement approaches to realise it, and work alongside a variety of stakeholders and a team who share this vision!
