The 1st TRANSFORM Network Academic School took place in Vienna, Austria, from 14 to 16 April 2026, bringing together doctoral candidates, supervisors and project partners for an intensive three-day programme dedicated to the transformation of mobility systems. Hosted at BOKU University, the event provided an important opportunity for academic exchange, network building and interdisciplinary discussion within the TRANSFORM community.
The programme addressed a wide range of topics related to sustainable mobility and transport research. On the first day, participants engaged with lectures on theories of behaviour change in transport, mobility cultures, and transformation within the mobility sector, followed by a visit to the Aspern Living Lab, which offered a valuable practical perspective on urban mobility innovation.
The second day combined consortium activities with academic discussion, including an overview of the TRANSFORM project, a session on the MSCA Doctoral Network, presentations of the individual research projects by doctoral candidates, and a lecture on system thinking. The programme also included the participation of the Project Officer, whose contribution added further value to the discussions held during the event.
On the third day, the Academic School focused on transferable skills, with sessions on peer-review processes and journal publications, writing skills, writing using AI, and communication of academic research. These activities were designed to support the professional development of the doctoral candidates and to strengthen key competences for their research careers.
The event was organised by the TRANSFORM partners at BOKU University, whose work and commitment made this first Academic School possible. The three-day meeting marked an important milestone for the project, reinforcing collaboration across the consortium and contributing to a shared vision for more sustainable mobility futures.
